Best course of action: Contact DMV and have a duplicate issued. The duplicate title will only be issued in the name and address of the last registered title holder. This may require two trips to the DMV, one to order and one to pickup. The cost at the DMV is normally $45 - $65 depending on the state. We are not presently offering this service.
Level II Title Recovery:
Vehicle purchased by client from prior owner
Title remains in prior owners name
Prior owner does not have title to provide
Best course of action: Have prior owner request and obtain a duplicate title in their name. Upon receipt, prior owner signs over the newly issued title to you. Duplicate title process normally takes about 3 - 4 weeks depending on the state DMV. Call us about pricing for this service.
Level III Title Recovery:
Vehicle purchased by client from prior owner
Prior owner did not have title in their name or
Prior owner is not available to provide title
Best course of action: Title recovery agent does vehicle chain of title history investigation to obtain the background and ownership history of vehicle. Parties with prior claims to the vehicle are identified. Prior claims to vehicle are extinguished so that new title is free from clouds or claims. A new ownership is created in the name of the client. A title based on this new ownership is provided by the state DMV. Cost of this process is:
$485 for motorcycles
$585 for vehicles 1998 and older
$685 for vehicles 1999 and newer.
